Traveling fills us with unforgettable experiences, but sometimes unexpected health issues can alter the course of our adventures. At PAX ASSISTANCE, we are here to help you enjoy your journey with the peace you deserve. We understand that some situations can be confusing: Should I call an ambulance or contact PAX? Here, we give you clarity to help you make the best decision in those moments.

When should I call an ambulance?

It is crucial to recognize the warning signs that require immediate medical attention, as they involve life-threatening situations. Below, we present some of the situations in which you should consider calling a local ambulance, so we also share the emergency numbers for all the countries around the world:

Warning signs to call an ambulance:

Some signs indicating that you should immediately dial the local emergency number include:

  • Intense chest pain: Could be a sign of a heart attack.
  • Difficulty breathing or feeling like you’re choking
  • Fainting, loss of consciousness, or seizures
  • Severe bleeding that doesn’t stop with pressure
  • Visible fractures or severe traumatic injuries (especially head or spine injuries).
  • Sudden paralysis on one side of the body (this may indicate a stroke).
  • Severe allergic reactions with difficulty breathing or swelling.
  • Extensive or deep burns

In these cases, don't hesitate for a second. Call the emergency services, as acting quickly can save a life.

Once the emergency protocol of the country you are in is activated and the urgent situation is addressed, having PAX means that when you contact us, we will cover the medical expenses incurred and activate the appropriate protocol to ensure the best care in every case.

When should you contact PAX ASSISTANCE?

There are some situations where your first contact should be PAX Assistance instead of an ambulance:

  • Mild fevers or general discomfort that require a medical evaluation but are not emergencies.
  • Minor injuries like sprains or small cuts that don’t require immediate surgery.
  • Infections or illnesses that can be treated with prescription medications (e.g., throat, ear infections, or colds).
  • Digestive issues like indigestion or diarrhea that, while unpleasant, are not dangerous.
  • Preventive or follow-up medical consultations

Stay calm and trust in PAX

We know that even small problems can cause stress. That’s why we are always here to provide you with the peace you need during your trip.

Check the emergency numbers of every country in the world here and have the reassurance that wherever you are, whether through an emergency call or our assistance, you can always count on us.
